Purpose: A step-by-step operational and pastoral guide to prepare, execute, and follow up on baptisms across Cross Point campuses.

1. Pre-Baptism Workflow & System Touchpoints

Participants sign up at crosspoint.tv/baptism to join an upcoming Baptism Sunday or request a custom date by selecting Connect with a Pastor.

 2. Ministry Platform Operational Views

Staff use three main views in Ministry Platform to track participants:

  • Next Baptism Sunday (Location: Event Participants Page)

    • Target Role: Campus Coordinators

    • Primary Responsibilities:

      • Review and correct participant details using the Add/Edit Family Tool.

      • Review registration responses via Selected Form Responses.

      • Send text and email updates using Actions > Message.

  • Cross Point Baptisms (Location: Responses Page)

    • Target Role: Assigned Staff Members

    • Primary Responsibilities:

      • Manage personal pastoral touchpoints.

      • Log contact history under the Follow Ups tab.

      • Update Response Result statuses.

      • Complete assigned MP tasks.

  • Connect with a Pastor (Location: Responses Page)

    • Target Role: Campus Coordinators / Pastors

    • Primary Responsibilities:

      • Handle non-standard date requests.

      • Review assistance reasons under the Answers tab.

      • Reassign or follow up with participants as needed.

 3. Managing Response Statuses

Staff must regularly update the Response Result field in MP as participants progress through conversations:

  • Communicating: Outreach initiated; conversation underway.

  • Ready for Baptism: Gospel conversation complete and cleared for baptism.

  • Pause Baptism: Needs additional time or further discussion.

  • Next Steps Options: Next Step: Get InvolvedNext Step: Join a GroupNext Step: Live Generously, or Next Step: Connecting at Cross Point.

Tip for Campus Coordinators: Prior to Baptism Sunday, print the Cross Point Baptisms view to verify all scheduled participants are marked Ready for Baptism

*See: How to Export a Selection in Ministry Platform

 4. Participant Check-In Procedure

  1. Participant arrives at the check-in area.

  2. Staff enters the participant's phone number into the check-in iPad.

  3. Staff verifies in the Cross Point Baptisms view that a pastoral conversation took place and status is Ready for Baptism.

  4. If no MP profile exists: Create one directly on the check-in iPad. **See: Configuring Check in on ipads for Events

5. Post-Baptism & Milestone Tracking

Recording milestones ensures every baptized individual is properly documented for discipleship tracking.

  • Automated Logging: Successful iPad check-in during the baptism event automatically attaches a Baptism Milestone to the participant's profile in MP.

  • Manual Entry (If Check-In Missed): If a participant was baptized without checking in on the iPad, staff must manually add a Milestone on the participant record in MP with these exact parameters:

    • Milestone: Baptism

    • Participant: [Participant Name]

    • Program: Baptism

    • Date Accomplished: [Date of Baptism]

    • Event / Witness: Leave Blank

    • At Prior Church: No
